T.L. McCoy is a writer, registered nurse, certified teacher, and former school director. More importantly, she is the grandmother of a child diagnosed with Dravet Syndrome, a catastrophic seizure disorder. Because she has seen firsthand the challenges faced by neurodivergent children and their families, McCoy wrote DELILAH VERSUS THE GRIM as a rallying cry for greater inclusivity, acceptance, and empowerment. Through her writing, McCoy strives to create a more compassionate and understanding world—where everyone gets the chance to feel like a hero from time to time.
Twelve-year-old Delilah is brilliant at math but not so brilliant at making friends. Teased by classmates for her seizure disorder, she struggles to fit in until a life-threatening seizure lands her in a medically induced coma, and she is transported to Othersphere through an indigo door in her mind. There, the creatures of The Hidden herald her as the “traveler from the stories of old,” whom they expect to defeat the Ghastly Grim—the malevolent being terrorizing their land. With the help of an eccentric kangaroo council member named Viticus and a sassy ladybug named Sir Nellid, Delilah must navigate great dangers to survive both on Earth and in Othersphere. To do so, she must confront her insecurities, crack codes, solve riddles, discover her powers, rescue a dragon, and transform what she once saw as a weakness—her so-called disability—into her greatest strength.
Join Delilah on her thrilling journey as she battles the Ghastly Grim, proving that being different makes us truly special. This unforgettable fantasy story is a must-read for:
Special needs children who deserve to see themselves as heroes
Parents and caregivers seeking books that promote empowerment and awareness through adventure
Teachers and librarians searching for inclusive literature that champions diversity
Anyone who's ever felt like isolated, alienated, or alone

Inspiration
What if the hero of a fantasy adventure isn’t defined by her disability—but by her courage, intellect, and heart?
Did you know that, according to the Cooperative Children's Book Center, only 3.4% of children's books feature a main character with a disability? Please help spread a message of love, acceptance and empowerment by sharing DELILAH VERSUS THE GHASTLY GRIM with others. Together we can break barriers one page at a time.
